Conductor

Long Ashton Orchestra has been conducted by Chris Holley since November 2023.

Chris Holley completed a masters degree in conducting with
distinction at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he conducted
the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Welsh National Opera orchestra, an
educational orchestral tour, Baroque music from the harpsichord, several
operas, contemporary music premieres and a wide range of Classical and
Romantic repertoire.
He previously studied at the University of Birmingham, London Conducting
Workshop and the George Hurst Advanced Conducting Course. Chris has
conducted a wide range of ensembles around the UK including orchestras,
wind bands, contemporary music groups and choirs. Other musical activities
include recording, arranging, teaching, performing and community work. Chris
is delighted to be the new music director of the Long Ashton Orchestra as of
November 2023 and looks forward to growing the ensemble’s ability and range
while continuing its excellent sense of community.
